Westbus HistoryWestbus is an experienced, safe and reliable bus and coach company servicing the school bus routes in Northern Tasmania from Westbury to Prospect. Westbus also has coaches and buses for hire.
Jan Bingley worked with her parents in their family business for 10 years before buying the company, Loone’s Rural Services in 2000. Since then Jan has managed the business and now spends most of her time working in Westbus administration and driving occasionally. Jan’s parents, Bob & Olive Loone have had school buses since 1975 and Jan first learnt to drive a large bus at the age of 21 in a twinsteer Bedford bus. |
Don't lose your Greencard - ask your Westbus driver for a free bag tag which is a sturdy card holder with a keyring for attaching to schoolbags. Whats happened - the first roll out of Greencards were sent to all students on Metro letterhead which confused many students on which Westbus would be providing their bus services. The information contained in the letter also was misread by many students and we have found that in some instances, students/parents have placed credit to the card but Westbus currently have no facility to remove credit from the card to pay for travel. The Greencard has 'Metro' printed on the front with many students again believing that Metro would be providing the service. While the Transport Commission authorised Metro Tasmania to issue the Greencard, the presence of the Metro name and logo on the face of the Greencard does not mean there have been any changes to current local services. Westbus will honour the card and provided you present it each time you board the bus, you will be charged no more than $1.00 per trip. If you are entitled to free travel, your Greencard will have a number (expiry year) in large type on the reverse side. When you show the reverse side to the driver, if you are eligible, you will not be charged a fare. If you have any queries on timetables or pickup points please contact Westbus. If you have any queries or comments on the use of the Greencard, please call the Passenger Transport Services Branch of the Department of Infrastructure, Energy and Resourses (DIER) on 6233 4953. For information on the use of the Greencard for travel on Metro, or in relation to unused credit on your Greencard, please ring 13 22 01 or visit http://www.metrotas.com.au/ School Bus TimetableWestbury Info |
